Isaiah: "Then thou shalt call and the Lord shall answer. Thou shalt cry and He will say HERE I AM." Isaiah 58:9 Why do these words from The Book of Isaiah provide me with such comfort? How could it be that they have impacted my life so, and carried me through some very rough seas? It's in the promise. One of God's Rainbow of Promises. When I miscarried, I called on the Lord as tears streamed down my face and I didn't know which end was up. He answered. When my grandfather passed over and I couldn't imagine a life without him, I cried out to the Lord for comfort. He answered. As I watched my grandmother starve herself to death in a nursing home, unable to do anything but pray by her side, at home, in my car...anywhere, I called out to the Lord for strength. He answered. In my eighteen year battle with Anxiety, I have called out to the Lord many times for strength, endurance, hope and healing- He has answered. When the United States suffered a seemingly insurmountable attack on 9-11-01, I, along with millions of others, cried out to the Lord. "Help me get through this! Dear Lord, please give me the strength to withstand the loss we've sustained. Please be there for the families of the victims." He answered. And now, as we as a nation and as a world, are faced with a situation of war, devastation, loss, terror and fear, I, along with millions of others, call out to the Lord. HE HEARS US AND IS ANSWERING. Please take comfort in those words, but more importantly, please believe them. You won't get all the answers to your questions...because we don't ever know 'why' to everything.
